Maya

Violinist Berlin 1717 Stradivari

About

A decade of European concertizing has built a violinist whose Mozart is patient, whose Brahms is structural, and whose Sibelius is unafraid of cold weather.

Maya Reinhardt was born in Munich in 1988. She studied with Antje Weithaas at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin and completed her artist diploma at Juilliard in 2014 under Itzhak Perlman. Her concert debut came the same year with the Münchner Philharmoniker — Mendelssohn, conducted by Thielemann.

Since 2018 she has appeared regularly with the Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw, Boston Symphony, and the Wiener Philharmoniker. She holds a long-term loan of the 1717 'Sasserno' Stradivarius from the Nippon Music Foundation, an instrument she has played since 2020.

Her 2025 BBC Proms appearance — the Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5 in A, K. 219 with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Sakari Oramo — was singled out by The Guardian for "a Mozart D major of singing patience that the Albert Hall has not heard in some years." She records exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon since 2022.

Reinhardt is also the artistic director of the Würzburg Chamber Festival (founded 2023), a six-day August programme dedicated to the late Brahms and contemporary German composers.
